I’ve become obsessed with Obsidian. I actually use it for all my writing—whether it’s random quick notes, blog articles, or my manuscript. It helps me stay connected with my research, my character notes, and the actual drafts.
I was a big Scrivener fan, and yes, it’s a lifetime product, but I had it so long ago that I forgot the email address I used for the license and can’t get back into it. I’d hate to pay for it again. 😓
If you would like to see obsidian in action as a writer, I would be honored to give you some screenshots of what I do that works for me in my particular scenarios.
After commenting on this last night, I went back to Scrivener and installed the demo to see if I can get back into. It just doesn’t flow the way Obsidian does— taking away from my mechanics, unfortunately.
Never thought about using Pinterest. I’ve been obsessed with Sublime as of late.
If I could describe it… it’s pretty much an archive app. It’s allows you to just save damn near anything online. Podcast clips, videos, notes… but what I find so refreshing is that it connects the things and ideas you save to other users.

The meta I've landed on at the moment is Ellipsus for writing and Obsidian for notes.
Obsidian makes organization SUPER easy, being able to link everything together is huge when needing to quickly find notes on something, and it's super clean and readable + you can sync with your phone. I keep a lot of my "in-world" writing there as well.
Ellipsus is a very simple cloud writing app, but it does let you add headers so you can quickly jump to sections. I mostly use it because of privacy concerns with Google using my data AI training.
I've also heard of yWriter as a free alternative to Scrivener, but I found Obsidian more useful personally.

I mostly try to keep everything in one place, because I tend to forget where I wrote stuff down, and then all my information is scattered everywhere! That's why I like Scrivener so much :)
